When a carpenter and a fashion designer that’s passionate about raw organic food get together to start a business, you get Natural Harry. A business inside a handbuilt 50’s inspired caravan that houses 100% raw and 100% organic smoothies and desserts that are also free of refined sugar.
In Summer you find Natural Harry in Barwon Heads perched up on a hill along the main drag with bean bags, crates and umbrellas surrounding it. The rest of the year it’s a little more of a moving target appearing at festivals and markets, however one fixed location is guaranteed and that’s at the Little Creatures Brewery craft market.
Natural Harry is the brainchild of Harriet, and Fraser has provided an extreme level of support by building the caravan from scratch. It doesn’t have a handmade feel though, this caravan would pass as something that was restored but built by professionals back in the day. The detail is extraordinary and everything from the timbers to the decoration is high quality.
The same can be said of the food and drinks on offer. At times ‘Organic’ has been abused as a bit of a marketing label however Harry has committed to using 100% organic local produce. Although the menu varies as seasonal produce changes across the year, the core ingredients you can expect are fresh fruits, nuts, avocado (which is supprisingly good in dessert), real maple syrup and superfoods like cacao.
As well as the smoothies and desserts which we can vouch for as ‘the best we’ve ever had’ there’s also Kombucha and salads.
The Little Creatures craft market is something you should be attending anyway as there’s music, art, jewellery, homewares, preserves, Cartel coffee and of course without a doubt, there is beer. It’s held on the second Sunday of each month down at 221 Swanston St, Geelong.
